About ESAS
East and Southeast Asian Scotland (ESAS) is a community-led organisation working for justice, rights, and empowerment of East and Southeast Asian (ESEA) communities. Since 2020, we’ve delivered emergency support, cultural programmes, research, and advocacy while partnering with councils, NHS, and UK-wide networks.

Why Join Our Board?
As a Board Director, you’ll:

  • Help guide ESAS’s strategy and governance.

  • Contribute to long-term systemic change for ESEA communities.

  • Build experience in leadership, advocacy, and civil society engagement.

This is a voluntary role (reasonable expenses reimbursed).

Who We’re Looking For
We welcome people from all genders and backgrounds, particularly those with lived experience in ESEA or migrant communities. You don’t need prior Board experience — willingness to learn is just as important.

    • Finance & Treasurer duties

    • Governance & leadership

    • Policy & advocacy

    • Cross-sector engagement (councils, NHS, unions)

    • Human rights & civil society leadership

    • Research & Monitoring/Evaluation

Commitment

  • Approx. 29 hours per year (quarterly online meetings, prep, document reviews).

  • One annual in-person meeting in Scotland.

  • Every 5 years: a Governance Development Weekend (next in Nov/Dec 2025).

Location
Board Directors must be UK-based to ensure active participation, with at least one annual in-person meeting in Scotland.
